The mice have returned to Epping Forest with a Trail of seventeen wooden figurines throughout the Forest.
In Autumn 2025 a new Brambly Hedge figurine Trail opened in Epping Forest. Jill Barklem spent much of her time researching for the Brambly Hedge books in and around Epping Forest, in many ways it is the spiritual home of Brambly Hedge.
Now the mice have returned home to Epping Forest with a Trail of seventeen wooden figurines to be found throughout the Forest. The Trail starts at the Epping Forest Visitor Centre in Chingford, located to the north east of London, just twenty five minutes from London Liverpool Street station.

The Trail is 1.5 miles long and uses the recently opened Gloucester Ride pathway between Epping Forest Visitor Centre and Connaught Water.
Visitors can purchase a guide map and Trail pencil from the Visitor Centre. The map includes a tick list for each sculpture, once completed you can collect your very own Brambly Hedge sticker.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make the Brambly Hedge Trail possible, including the City of London Corporation and Rural England Prosperity Funding via Epping Forest District Council.
In Spring 2026 a new Brambly Hedge display opened at the Epping Forest Visitor Centre in Chingford. The display gives a little insight into how Jill Barklem developed some of her illustration for Spring Story. It also features some of her early pressed flowers, items from her studio, and the largest ever produced print of her Crabapple Cottage cross section illustration.
The display is located in the ground floor gallery at the Epping Forest Visitor Centre in Chingford, open every day except Mondays, 10am to 4pm, but please check their website for more up-to-date details.
